HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each season there is a themed sport. The first event is Football. Prior to the tournament each team is given access to
coaching sessions by local team coaches and community coaches. The tournament is hosted by one of the competing parishes. Then three tournaments take place at one time between the parish teams in the school years 4, 5 and 6 (Juniors), 7, 8 and 9 (Colts) and finally years 10, 11 and 12 (Seniors). The winning team of each age group then get presented with the winners shield which is engraved and kept by the parish until the next event…….SIMPLE!!
WHO IS INVOLVED?
The Co-operative Insurance BRIPS is for youths living in the ten parishes (see map for parishes covered) aged 16 and
under. Each parish has a BRIPS contact who is responsible for the administration and co-ordination for their parish teams. PC Gary WATTS and PCSO Lester MARLAND, who developed the initial idea are responsible for the overall admin and running of the events.Co-operative Insurance are the BRIPS main sponsors and have provided the shields, a full sports kit for each parish in conjunction with Sportsmatch and ongoing advice and support. We are also fortunate to be sponsored by a local company - Compass Consultants.
THE FUTURE OF THE BRIPS.
The BRIPS is moving forward in numerous directions. We have already obtained training for some of our Community Coaches and are in the process of sourcing more. Thanks to the interest shown by CIS and Sportsmatch RIPS may soon be popping up around the South West and maybe even further afield.
